MAXIMISING EFFICIENCY WITH ELCOMETER PERFORMANCE BLAST POTS

Elcometer Performance blast machines are manufactured to industry leading specifications and designed with high quality components throughout to provide high efficiency when working on a variety of sandblasting projects.

Züblin Chimney and Refractory GmbH, a multisited infrastructure contractor, based in Germany, were an early adopter of the blast machines following their launch in 2019 and have subsequently seen key improvements to their blast process.

THE PROJECTS

Züblin’s impressive, international portfolio includes work on the Adidas Headquarters in Germany as well as the Vancouver Airport in Canada. The turnkey construction and civil engineering specialists blast steel parts such as steel girders and tanks within a controlled tent, for up to six hours per day, five days a week.

THE SOLUTION

Züblin came to Elcometer looking for a new fleet of abrasive blast machines which would improve their efficiency and, following technical discussions on project requirements, were advised to use the Elcometer Performance 24200 Abrasive Blast Machines with general media valves.

Elcometer’s Performance blast pots ensure efficiency in a variety of ways and their advanced design means they can be adapted to the requirements of any sandblasting project. Most importantly for Züblin, the pot is able to minimise pressure loss as it is designed with minimal bends or restrictions for increased flow rate and features a widended internal diameter of 38mm (11/2") to reduce frictional losses caused by the boundary layer effect.

These advancements mean that Züblin have been able to reduce the compressor pressure to the abrasive blast machine whilst still delivering the required pressure at the nozzle, creating significant savings to fuel costs.

As well as the pressure saved compared to their previous fleet of blast machines, blasters at Züblin were impressed by how quickly they were able to service the pots and the precision abrasive control of the general valve which ensured maximum efficiency.

THE SAVINGS

Using Elcometer’s efficiently designed blast machines contributed to significant reductions in the labour, equipment and cleaning expenditure for Züblin.

Alexander Blaschke, Site Manager at Züblin, thanked Elcometer for their ‘personal commitment’ in providing technical advice, stating that they were ‘advised in a very professional way’ by Elcometer staff.
